Do you guys use or create generative gfx? Here a not too complecated photoshop example i did. its noise/blur/contrast based. I recorded it in an action, you can load it in photoshop. Bubb's Gen GFX.atn with Safari Browser you should ctrl+click/right click the link save target as. oh and, heres a big version, US letter 300 dpi BubbGen01_big.jpg

(...) i dislike Photobob filters, ugh too fancy for me, they may all be gone, except gausian-blur ofcourse. (...)
Are you contradicting yourself or where does my understanding you go wrong? I find this picture irritating btw - I'm trying to focus and naturally fail all the time

Generative art is not very used, so there are few people that use to produce this kind of stuff.Personally I prefer exact art, pixel by pixel if needed. Not very used to dynamic stuff. In this section you must find a good balance of color, and it depends every time when you have to use it.Pink with black is an iritating combination if you ask me :) GL P.S. http://colorschemedesigner.com/

i see what you mean sara but i meant these fancy filters like Fresco and Neon glow, i think these are all in the Artistic section, they should put that section in a Fotosjop Light version. And I never saw anyone during my education or at my work use them, and thats a relief . But i see the topic is not interpreted the way i was expecting it. I did NOT put it in 'showcase', you see, but in 'general discussion'. I dont care if you do or dont like it. I just put an example with my question. Talking about the use of color, not that i think these colors are really that beautiful, but why use color combinations in a 'correct' way? you only use color combinations in a 'correct' way if it fits the subject. Maybe you want to use 'uncorrect' combinations if that will fit the subject, see what i mean. If you just wanna SELL, or you to hang it on the wall to fit the interior, please do use 'correct' color combinations and try to make it such that everyone likes it. So again. If you're interrested in generated graphics please put some links here like http://www.contextfreeart.org/ or http://processing.org/. http://blip.tv/play/AfKcPo7Zew processing @ flickrMaybe you program graphics or someting, or use Apple Quarz composer.

A somewhat entertaining train ride made me think about generating graphics today (thanks to this thread). As i'm not really experienced with graphics as such, i decided to see what can be done with CSS, HTML and PHP The result is a little program that generates random html-boxes of various styles, colors and sizes onto your screen. Have a look at http://mastercontrolprogram.de/Nonsense.php and refresh the page to see more! Be warned, the output is almost always very very ugly! You can change the number of boxes, too, by giving the script the parameter n with a value, like so http://mastercontrolprogram.de/Nonsense.php?n=1200I realize its not good looking or useful, but interesting maybe, to see the patterns of extreme randomness. Next time i'll try doing this with scalable vector graphics, to not be as limited in shapes and patterns.

hahaha, must be fun doing this, thats what is important. When you resize the window, the boxes move over each other giving it an extra effect. This topic maybe inspired you, but this use of css/html/php inspired me. made me think why not add repeated 24bit png images with half transparency.

Nice one Bubb, that worked out quite well! A certain somebody might complain about the irritating focus, but nevermind that I didn't consider using/streching an image for the purpose, thought it might become too pixelated, otherwise my algorithm looks kinda similar to yours. A blurry image with transparency does the trick very nicely, indeed.
