You can personalise and change the look of Armagetron by installing a moviepack. The moviepack enhances game play by improving sounds and graphics. the extra graphics and sounds give Armagetron the real 'Tron' look.
If you download a movie pack and it does not have an automatic installer, first, unzip the moviepack, right click on the folder called "moviepack" (choose the copy option), which was created when you unzipped the file, copy, open your Armagetron folder in program files, and paste the Moviepack folder into the main armagetron folder.
If the moviepack comes with a sky.png that isn't in the main moviepack folder, again you copy this image (right click on the sky.png and choose the copy option), open the Armagetron folder in program files, open the textures folder and paste the sky.png here. If the sky texture is in the main moviepack folder, just adding the moviepack folder as above should install the sky texture.
Installation process in Linux is the same as in windows, but you have to take care in that the armagetron folder is in $HOME\.armagetron or $HOME\.armagetronad depending on the Armagetron version that you have.
To enable the moviepack after it is installed in the Armagetron Program Folder.
Click on your Armagetron shortcut.
You will see the start up screen.
Choose "System Setup" and then "Misc Stuff".
You will see the option to enable the moviepack. To do this, just select it and press "Enter". Doing this the option value will change to "on" and the movie pack will be enabled.
To enable the sky texture, click "esc" until you return to "System Setup" screen.
Choose "Display Settings" then "Preferences".
Enable "Lower Sky", "Upper Sky" and "High Rim".
You can also enable "Sky Movement", but this can be very off putting in game and is totally down to personal preference.
If a moviepack comes with a textured floor image, to be able to view this in game, you need to, set floor detail to Textured Plane (not dual texture) to show the floor correctly. Go through game menu's System Setup : Display Settings : Detail Settings : Floor Detail = Textured Plane.
To test your movie pack, just choose a game, play and have fun.
Be aware that a very graphical movie pack can reduce your FPS.
If you are not sure of what are you doing, first do a backup of the armagetron folder to avoid losing the configuration or at least copy the graphics you are replacing to a temporary folder until you are satisfied with the changes.
